It means that creating a link to an email address allows users to send you an email with a click. In this article, we will show you how to link to an email address in WordPress. However, we don’t recommend creating email links because spammers often use scripts to harvest web sites for email addresses. If you create email links, you may see an increase in spam. You can consider to using a contact form instead.
Step 1: Highlight the selected text that you want to link
Step 2: Click the Insert/Edit link button in the toolbar
For linking email addresses, we use the same button that we use for linking to web pages. This button is in the toolbar of post editor, and it looks like this:
You can also use the keyboard shortcut: Alt + Shift + A (Command+K on Mac)
This will bring up the insert link popup where you need to add your mailto link. Click on the apply button to close the insert link popup.
Step 3: Add the email address.
In the URL field, type your email address and place mailto: before it. This will turn your email address into a hyperlink.
Click the Add Link button when you’re finished.
If you’d rather use the Text tab in the WordPress editor, you’ll see the email link looks like this:
