Upload Images in WordPress Comments

Comments with media allows to boost user engagement on your site. In this article, we will show you one easy way is to allow your visitors to insert both videos and images into their comments on your WordPress website.

  1. Install and activate the Comment Attachment plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/comment-attachment/ This plugin allows your visitors to attach files with their comments, such as documents and images. It uses only built in wordpress hooks, and provides you with multiple settings in you admin.

Go to your admin area and select Plugins -> Add new from the menu. Search for “Comment Attachment”.

Click Install -> Activate.

  1. Go to Settings -> Discussion page in your WordPress admin area and scroll down to Comment Attachment section.

From here you can setup options to display image attachment field in the comments section of your WordPress posts and pages. These options include the position of comment field, field title, required option, file types, image attachment size, etc.

You can also allow your users to attach a document, PDF, powerpoint presentation, excel spreadsheet by checking the file type options in the comment attachment settings. Once all options are setup, click on the Save Changes button to store your settings.

After that head over to any post page on your WordPress site, and you will see an image upload field in the comments area like the screenshot below:

All images uploaded by users are stored in your WordPress media library so if you want to delete an media uploaded by a user, then you need to go to Media » Library, locate the image, and then delete it (this will delete the image from the comment without affecting the comment text)
